BIJAPUR:The rescue operation of saving the four-year-old girl Yegavva alias Kanchanaremained incomplete even on Thursday evening. On Monday at 12.30 pm she fellinto an open borewell at Devar Nimbaragi village of Indi taluk in Bijapurdistrict.No one knows the position of the girl. Though the districtadministration engaged the military force, engineering experts, policepersonnel, medical team and fire fighters in the rescue operations, Yegavvacould not be traced.According to superintendent of police K VShridhar, the main cause of the delay is the uncertain rain which is lashing thedistrict especially villages of Indi taluk. "I think it is not possible tocomplete the operation on Thursday night. It will take another day", hesaid.Deputy commissioner R Shantaraj told TOI that every possiblemeasure has been taken for speeding up the rescue operation. 45 militarypersonnel and 20 hatti gold mines staff engaged in the work, he said. He furthersaid, an ambulance has been kept ready and necessary medical equipment andmedicines are ready on the spot along with a team of doctors. "If the rain stopstonight we will be able to complete the operation within the stipulated time,''he said.
