Belagavi: In a tragic incident, a dog attacked seven children and an elderly person in Bailhongal town on Tuesday evening. Supriya Patil, 8, a resident of Bailhongal MG housing colony, was seriously injured and was admitted for treatment.
According to police sources, Supriya, had gone to a grocery store, when she was attacked by a dog as she returned home. She was initially treated at a govt hospital and then admitted to a private hospital in Belagavi for further treatment.

Locals said that the stray dogs attacked people in Indiranagar, RTO Road, KC Nagar, and other areas on Tuesday. Those injured in the attack are Kallayya Rudragouda Patil, 86, Sona Deepak Kavale, 5, Sannidhi Huchannavar, 10, Prajwal Shankarappa Bashetti, 15, Vaishnavi Anil Bhajantri, 5, and Sangayya Madivalayya Pujar, 8.
Most of those injured in attacks by were children, and made it difficult for children to step out. Municipal staff conducted a search to find the rabid dog.
Municipal health inspector SN Patil said that the Bailhongal municipal office went into action on Tuesday night and was busy catching rabid dogs. The city council assured assistance with treatment after visiting the hospitals. He appealed the parents not to send their children out alone for 2 days.
