HUBLI: Residents of Hubli are letting their hair down and how! The party scene in the city has seen a rapid change in recent times. Gone are the days when one could groove to a disk jockey's (DJ) collection only at parties of the comparatively rich. Today, the presence of DJs is a given at almost every function.
Kushal, a popular DJ in the city, says the traditional sound system, without which no party or function was ever complete, has now been replaced with the dynamic DJ, who comes with his own modern sound system.
"Earlier, only the rich could afford to hire DJs because their equipment was very expensive. But now, with the easy availability of modern electronic gadgets, DJs are much in demand. We have a booking system to avoid chaos and provide our services for 10-12 functions in a month."
Kushal says the demand for DJs isn't limited to Hubli. "I get bookings from outside the city as well."
Manjunath Sureban, an events organizer, credits the changing mindsets of youngsters for the change in the party scene. "Now, people want everything on a grand scale. Globalization and easy access to the internet have contributed to this change."
He explains that DJs have also made it easy to cater to different tastes in music. Just request a particular song and it's more likely to be played pronto.
Manjunath R N, who is employed with a private company, says it's the rapid growth of the city that is leading people to adopt new lifestyles. "Earlier, we used to go Bangalore or Goa to attend parties with a DJ on weekends. Now, we can get one even for birthday parties. It's good to see our city developing this way."
He hopes that soon, every restaurant/hotel will hire DJs to entertain patrons.
