Inaugurating the event at Kamal Basadi in Belagavi Fort, minister Satish Jarkiholi said the contribution of the Jain community to the country in terms of agriculture, trade, education and Kannada language is immense. He assured that Kamal Basadi will be further developed and made a tourist destination. He said the Kamal Basadi is a historical place, and on the request of Jain community leaders, he provided funds from the public works department for the Basadi's development. "Even though the swamijis of the community in Hassan and Shivamogga districts did not submit a request, we provided grants after they called for discussion. We have not only provided good roads to the monasteries in various places, including Hassan and Shivamogga, but also to the towns leading to the tourist places of the community," Jarkiholi said. Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar said more development will be done in the coming days and more grants will be provided to Jains.
