Davanagere SP fulfils little blood cancer patient’s dream of becoming a cop
Pic: SP Shekhar HT welcomes Hitarth, who is suffering from blood cancer, in his office on MondayDavanagere: A 3-and-a-half-year-old boy, Hitarth, who suffers from blood cancer, was allowed to sit in the chair of the SP at the office of the Davanagere superintendent of police after his father brought him there, dressed in a khaki uniform, to fulfil his wish of seeing his son as a police officer on Tuesday.
SP Shekhar HT welcomed the child with a flower bouquet and permitted him to sit in his chair and act as the ‘superintendent of police' for a while. Police officers, staff, and members of the public present were moved by the scene.Hitarth is the second son of Prabhu and Anusha from Hosahalli village in Honnali taluk. He was diagnosed with blood cancer when he was 18 months old, underwent continuous treatment for the past 2 years, and was admitted to Manipal Hospital for the last 8 months.The sight of the child smiling in the chair was lauded by the public, and the gesture was described as humane. The family said the child showed 80% recovery due to treatment, but the parents are worried about his health.Prabhu said he always dreamed of becoming a police officer, but it remained unfulfilled. Since Hitarth was born, he wanted his son to become a police officer. Even after learning about the cancer, he held on to the hope of seeing his son in a police uniform. "Thanks to SP Shekhar HT for providing this opportunity and fulfilling my son's dream," he said, with tears in his eyes."We never saw a smile on his face for a long time, but when he was dressed up as a police officer, he received a warm welcome at the SP's office, and finally, he sat on the SP's chair," she said. "Being parents, we have been struggling over his health, but he was happy at SP's office," shared Anusha, Hitarth's mother."This is all about being humane. A little boy is suffering from blood cancer, and it is our duty to fulfil his dream. I wish him better health," said Shekhar HT, SP Davanagere.
