CM calls for faith in god and harmony over superstition
Haveri: Chief minister Siddaramaiah called for faith in God and rejection of superstition while urging people to strengthen harmony and equality in society. Speaking at the golden jubilee celebrations of Sri Beeraeshwara Swamy Temple, along with the inauguration of the Sri Bhakta Kanakadasa Mahadwara and Dharma Sabha in Nittur village of Ranebennur on Sunday, the CM said the temple had drawn devotees from several districts and had grown beyond being a shrine only for Nittur. He stressed that God is one, though worshipped under many names. Siddaramaiah said great thinkers and reformers such as Buddha, Basava, Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar and Kuvempu had all envisioned a peaceful nation where all communities could live together, and said his govt was committed to that path. Deputy speaker Rudrappa Lamani, legislators Basavaraj Shivannanavar, Prakash Koliwad, Yasir Khan Pathan, UB Banakar, chairman of Hubballi Electricity Transmission Corporation Ajjampeer Khadri, and others were present.
