The injured were identified as Irfan, Chandrakant and Gururaj. They were admitted to hospital for treatment. The bride escaped to Bengaluru, while the groom and his friends received medical care at the hospital. The young woman from Hirekerur taluk, who worked in Bengaluru, and Irfan were in love. They planned to marry secretly without their parents' knowledge.
A few days ago, the young woman came to her village under the pretext of attending a fair. Irfan, along with his friends Gururaj and Chandrakant, came to Hirekerur taluk to elop with the bride and get married. They took her to Bengaluru in a car, fearing that her parents might come looking for her. The car overturned near Chennahalli Tand and was completely damaged.
In the accident, three young men sustained serious injuries. The bride, who was sitting in the back seat, narrowly escaped harm. As the car overturned near the village, locals gathered to help the young men. Taking advantage of the situation, the bride discreetly managed to get a ride from someone and boarded a bus to Bengaluru. She reached Bengaluru and returned home. The case is under the jurisdiction of the Hirekerur police station.
