BJP state prez Vijayendra targets Cong, seeks support for Davanagere South bypoll
Davanagere: State BJP President BY Vijayendra mocked Congress leaders, saying that those who have exploited minorities as a vote bank were now in a pitiable situation where they had to convince minorities in the Davanagere South Assembly constituency to vote for Congress.Speaking to media in the city on Sunday, he said minorities have developed a feeling that Congress has used them as a vote bank but has done nothing for their community. Moreover, voters in the South constituency are fed up because despite giving Congress prolonged power, no development has taken place. "Therefore, they have decided to elect BJP's ordinary worker Srinivas Dasakariyappa in the byelection, regardless of money power or muscle power," he added. He said there was some confusion among party leaders at the beginning of the South assembly bypoll. "However, after Srinivas was declared the candidate, local party leaders, functionaries, and workers have been working in unison. This unity has sent a positive message across the state. The BJP candidate will win by a huge margin," he said.Vijayendra stated there were indications that CM Siddaramaiah will be compelled to follow the Congress high command's orders after the five-state elections and a shift in state politics was likely to happen."Bypolls in Davanagere South and Bagalkot assembly constituencies have the potential to alter the course of state politics," he said.
