BIJAPUR:District in charge minister Govind Karjol hoisted the Tricolour National Flaghere at Dr B R Ambedkar stadium on Saturday, amidst shouts of ���BharatMataki Jai���.Addressing the mammothgathering, he explained the work done by the BJP-led government in the state forthe upliftment of the downtrodden and backward classed and all people ingeneral.
He said that the government declared Bijapur district asdrought affected, hence drought relief works will be undertaken on war footingin the coming days, as there are enough funds with the district administrationto tackle the drought situation. Moreover, more funds are sought from the Centreas a precautionary action, he said.
An apparel textile park willestablished in the district, which will employ more than 25,000 people and theprocess of establishing a wine park is also under progress.
Also thesurvey work for the establishment of 4,000 MW (megawatts) power generationstation has already commenced he said. A total of 150 new tanks will be built inthe state, including the twin districts of Bijapur and Bagalkot he said. Theconstruction of an airport near Buranpur is also under progress, hesaid.
MLAs Appasaheb Pattanashetty, M B Patil, ZP president VS Patil,deputy commissioner R Shantaraj, SP K V Shridhar, BDA chairman BhimashankarHadanur were present at the flag hoisting programme.
