Belagavi girl wins gold at state-level shooting competition

Belagavi: Manjiri T Jibi, a student of St. Joseph's High School in Belagavi, won a gold medal by securing first place in the 10-metre shooting competition of the school children's sports meet organised by the Karnataka State School Education Department in Bengaluru from Nov 16 to 25. With this achievement, she was selected for the national-level sports meet. More than a hundred children participated in the shooting competition at the sports meet held at the Seshadripuram Institute of Commerce and Management (SICM) premises in Bengaluru. Manjiri emerged as the first in the 10-metre air pistol shooting competition of the sports meet by scoring 355 out of 400. The student qualified for the national-level sports meet to be held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from Dec 19 to 24. The student was trained in shooting by Girish Halabhavi of Belagavi. Teacher Ramesh Alagudekar guided the student. The teachers and Principal of St Joseph's School expressed their joy and congratulated the student on her achievement.
