2nd Jain awareness conference on Sept 3

Hubballi: North Karnataka Jain Maha Sangha will organise the second Jain awareness conference at Mahaveer Bhavan on Gokul Road here , on September 3. Sangha president BA Patil told reporters on Wednesday that the conference aims at emphasising the organisation of Jains, and to get them facilities provided by the government. Planning and statistics minister D Sudhakar will inaugurate the meet in the presence of Devendra Bhattarak Swami, Dharmasena Bhattarak Swami of Varur Navgraha Tirtha Kshetra. Belagavi MLA Abhay Patil will be the chief guest. Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar University VC Niranjan Kumar, former Belagavi MLA Sanjay Patil, and others will also attend. Jain community leaders and social activists will be conferred Samaj Seva Award on behalf of North Karnataka Jain Mahasangha, he added. Officebearers of various Jain sanghas, organisations and the elected members for GPs from the districts of north Karnataka will arrive. Around 2,000 people are expected to attend the conference. TNN
