Tripura launches Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission

Agartala: Tripura govt on Friday launched the Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission, a pilot program aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being of students. The program, implemented in 125 Vidya Jyoti schools, aligns with NITI Aayog guidelines and focuses on six key areas, including health, nutrition, and academic curriculum, said National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura director Dr Sumit Roychoudhury."Approximately 90,000 students are expected to benefit from the program, which will eventually be extended to all govt and govt-aided schools in the state," Roychoudhury said.He emphasized on the importance of physical and mental health for academic success, before highlighting that the mission had already undertaken several initiatives, including Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, Menstrual Hygiene Program, National Deworming Day, National Tobacco Control Programme and Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation Program, to ensure overall well-being of children.
