Agartala: Tripura will showcase its ancient rock-cut heritage at the 77th Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on Jan 26, with a striking tableau dedicated to Unakoti, the revered Shaivite pilgrimage site.
The tableau will join presentations from several states and Union Territories, each reflecting India’s cultural diversity and progress. Over time, Unakoti has emerged not only as a spiritual centre but also as a major tourism attraction for Tripura.
An archaeological marvel, Unakoti features monumental rock-cut sculptures and bas-reliefs dating back to the 7th-9th centuries. These carvings, primarily devoted to Hindu deities — especially Lord Shiva — stand as enduring symbols of historical and artistic excellence.
Designed to capture Tripura’s cultural fabric and spiritual essence, the tableau will parade down Kartavya Path with intricate craftsmanship and vibrant visuals. It offers a vivid portrayal of the state’s grandeur, artistry, and devotional spirit.
Standing alongside tableaux from across India, Tripura’s presentation will highlight the nation’s unmatched cultural heritage and its journey of unity and development.
