Manipur-based hospital interested to set up facility in Tripura: Chief minister Manik Saha
Agartala: SHIJA Hospital and Research Institute from Manipur has shown interest in establishing a super specialty hospital in Tripura with a Rs 700 crore investment, chief minister Manik Saha said.
With SHIJA Hospital's assistance, Agartala Govt Medical College (AGMC) has initiated kidney transplantation services and successfully completed two procedures in six months. Saha mentioned that additional patients are awaiting treatment, and stated, "We want to start bone marrow transplant procedures in the state."
Healthcare facilities have improved considerably, with plans to introduce liver transplants in the state. "Recently I visited Lucknow's King George's Medical College to meet the vice-chancellor and a renowned doctor specializing in bone marrow transplants. I requested him to visit Tripura since we occasionally have patients requiring bone marrow transplants, and we also want to start such procedures here," he added.
The CM highlighted that numerous doctors from Tripura currently practising elsewhere are keen to return. The state's super-specialty hospital development has received widespread appreciation. Additionally, various external investers, including SHIJA Hospital, have demonstrated interest in establishing healthcare facilities in the state.
