Rs 12-crore heroin seized in Dima Hasao, 1 held

Silchar: Dima Hasao police seized heroin valued around Rs 12 crore and arrested a suspected peddler during naka checking at Deteckchhara near Harangajao on NH-27.According to police, the operation was carried out on Sunday night based on intelligence inputs. A team intercepted a vehicle on the Silchar–Lumding stretch of the highway and conducted a search.During the search, 1.72kg of suspected heroin concealed in 149 soap cases was recovered. The consignment is believed to have been smuggled from Mizoram and being transported to Guwahati.Dima Hasao additional SP (crime) Faruk Ahmed said one person involved in the racket was arrested.
