Rose sticks for riders abiding traffic rules in Dhubri dist
Dhubri: District transport department in Dhubri has adopted a unique approach to spread awareness about the need to abide by road rules. Authorities offered rose sticks to bike riders adhering to traffic rules and wearing helmets.
As part of a month long national programme starting Jan 1 , the department kicked off the inaugural event on Guru Teg Bahadur Road today.
The department also planned a number of programmes, including quiz competitions, street plays, distribution of pamphlets on road safety and a rally.
Talking to TOI, Dhubri district transport officer Dibyajyoti Das said various programmes have been planned under the National Road Safety Month. He added that the department has decided to wish riders following road rules a happy new year by offering roses to them.
“But are also imposing fine on those violating traffic rules,” Das added.
On the other hand, Dhubri Police also launched a road safety awareness drive on NH 17. They are sticking reflector tape on bikes, three-wheelers and other vehicles to prevent accidents in the prevailing foggy conditions.
