Shillong: Durga Puja, which had begun amid joy, grandeur and religious rites in the ‘abode of clouds’, culminated with ‘showers of blessings’ on Vijaya Dashami, as people collectively surmounted rain-induced challenges by immersing idols of the goddess and her entourage in various rivers.The Wah Umkhrah in the state capital was gushing in full spate due incessant rainfall since Wednesday, prompting the police and Central Puja Committee (CPC) to make full-proof arrangements to ensure secured idol immersion.
