GUWAHATI: The
AICC
has constituted a panel to look into the proposal of turning the state
Congress headquarter into a commercial complex and make it a source of earning revenue to enrich its exchequer.
Out of power for six years, Congress in Assam is facing a serious financial crisis and is mulling to renovate its party headquarter, Rajiv Bhawan, here. Based on Assam PCC president Bhupen Borah’s proposal to AICC, the party has constituted the committee. The committee has senior Congress leaders Debabrata Saikia, Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi, Basanta Das and
Rakibul Hussain
as members,
Borah
said on Saturday.
“The building at Rajiv Bhawan is almost 70 years old. I sent the proposal to the AICC to construct a commercial complex by replacing it with a multistoried building for commercial complex,” Borah told TOI.
