Shillong: As many as 194 traffic rule violation cases were detected in Shillong over in a single night, leading to the collection of over Rs 2 lakh in fines, police said on Sunday, reports Manosh Das.“As part of efforts to strengthen traffic enforcement, improve road discipline and ensure safer streets, East Khasi Hills police conducted a traffic enforcement drive during the intervening night of Apr 25 and 26 across three sectors of Shillong city — Sadar, Laitumkhrah and Lumdiengjri,” a statement said.“The enforcement focused on detection of drunk driving, illegal modification of exhaust systems and lights, black-tinted vehicle glasses and other violations. During the drive fines amounting to Rs 2,46,000 were imposed,” police added.
