GUWAHATI: As part of the 19th edition of Techniche - IIT-Guwahati's annual techno-management festival - the Guwahati Half Marathon was organized here this week.
Held in the city on Sunday with the theme 'Run for awareness of Organ Donation - Live Life Give Life', the half marathon aimed at providing a platform for people from different walks of life to come together.
Footballer Durga Boro, who was the lead striker for North East United FC in the first season of ISL, was the chief guest. Abu Nechim Ahmed, pace bowler from Royal Challengers Bangalore, attended the half marathon as guest of honour.
"Most helpful and kind support from the police, security and other officials is highly appreciated. I am very happy with the huge turnout of participants this year," said Animesh Jain, convener of Techniche 2017.
Considering the scale of participation, the Guwahati Half Marathon was conducted in various segments. While the Glory Run - the flagship race of the half marathon - was a 21-km race aimed at professional runners, the 6-km Spirit Run was intended for citizens.
