Dibrugarh: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday arrested an NSCN-K faction cadre from the Bank Colony area in Khonsa of Tirap district. The arrested person was identified as self-styled Sergeant Puman Pansa. Security forces seized a pistol, three live rounds of ammunition, and a mobile phone.The arrested individual was identified as self-styled Sergeant Puman Pansa, a member of the NSCN (Khango), one of several factions of the once-unified insurgent outfit that has long been active in the Naga-inhabited regions of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Upon his arrest, security forces recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, three live rounds of ammunition, and a mobile phone from his possession.The operation, conducted jointly by the Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles and the Tirap Police, was launched on the basis of specific and credible intelligence inputs pointing to the presence of an active insurgent operating in the locality.Tirap district, which borders Nagaland and Myanmar, has historically been a hotbed of insurgent activity, with various Naga armed factions using the dense forest terrain as a base for recruitment, extortion and logistics operations.
