Mizoram Police seized over 1,000kg drugs in ’25: Min

Aizawl: Mizoram Police have seized 79.208 kg of heroin, 964.428 kg of methamphetamine and 38.801 kg of crystal meth during 2025 in the state, home minister K Sapdanga informed the state legislative assembly on Monday.Sapdanga stated this in a written reply to a question from three members of the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM).He said drug seizure during the period also included 3,000 kg of caffeine, 4.51 kg of opium and 64.267 kg of cannabis as well as clinical drugs widely abused by the youth of the state.Underscoring the need for checking trafficking of drugs and substances from Myanmar, he said an anti drug war called ‘Operation Jericho’ was launched on Sept 1, 2025, and has been extended till the end of March.During Operation Jericho, Rs 317.30 crore worth drugs had so far been seized since Sept 1, 2025 till date, he said.
