The day, traditionally marked on the Sunday preceding the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, holds special significance in the Christian calendar. To mark the occasion, congregations across the state organised morning processions. In many churches, Sunday School students, teachers, and members of the congregation participated, carrying palm leaves and moving through localities, while singing hymns and raising cries of “Hosanna” in praise of God. Churches throughout Mizoram also held special worship programmes.
