Mizoram govt grants licences to 4 wineries despite dry law
Aizawl: The Mizoram govt has issued licences to four wineries and those have been set up for manufacture of wine and beer with the permission of the govt, state excise & narcotics minister Lalnghinglova Hmar informed the state legislative assembly on Thursday.Hmar said over Rs 6.20 lakh has been collected by the state govt as revenue as licence fee, label registration fee and import fee for extra neutral alcohol (ENA).

Though Mizoram is under the dry law, the Mizoram Liquor (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2025, allows manufacture, sale and supply of local fruit beer made from agricultural product within Mizoram.The amendment was passed by the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) govt in the legislature despite objection from the opposition legislators.
