Meghalaya govt calls for preservation of aquatic life

Shillong: The Meghalaya govt has called for creating widespread awareness and education, especially among fish farmers, on the preservation of aquatic life in the state, which is facing the threat of illegal trading.Education minister Lakhmen Rymbui, who recently oversaw training-cum-workshop on ‘Advanced Aquascaping and Aquarium Best Management Practices’, stressed the importance of preventing illegal practices while promoting sustainable livelihoods. The workshop was organised by the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai, in collaboration with the department of fisheries science, St Anthony’s College, Shillong, in association with the department of fisheries, govt of Meghalaya.
