Silchar: Cachar police seized 60,000 suspected Yaba tablets worth around Rs 18 crore and arrested a 44-year-old man from
Manipur during a late-night operation on Thursday.
Acting on an input, police intercepted an SUV arriving from Mizoram and searched the vehicle. The operation led to the recovery of the tablets and a mobile phone.
The accused, identified as Ngamlen (44), hails from Jaolen Kumbi Pukhri village in Churachandpur district of Manipur. Police suspect his involvement in an interstate drug trafficking network.
Officials said the seized consignment has an estimated black-market value of around Rs 18 crore. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the drugs.
