Manipur CM assures safety of Kuki-Zo visitors in Imphal
Imphal: Manipur chief minister Yumnam Khemchand on Monday assured that the state govt will take full responsibility for the safety and security of Kuki-Zo people visiting Imphal.His statement came a day after he, along with two other BJP legislators, saw off Kuki-Zo MLA Vungzagin Valte, who was airlifted from Imphal airport, and wished him a speedy recovery.

Speaking at a public function at Langthabal Lep in Imphal West during the flagging-off ceremony of the project to strengthen the pavement of the Imphal–Kakching Lamkhai Road (NH-137A), the CM said the govt will provide complete protection and support to any Kuki-Zo person visiting Imphal or seeking medical treatment in the city.He recalled that Thalon MLA Vungzagin Valte had called to congratulate him on becoming CM and assured his support in restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur.On the road project, Khemchand expressed confidence in its timely completion and urged contractors to maintain quality standards and finish the work on schedule.Meanwhile, minister Khuraijam Loken praised the CM for initiating the long-pending highway strengthening work. He urged the public not to obstruct developmental activities and emphasised that the new govt will prioritise the resettlement of IDPs.
