Guwahati: Lt KM Sudha, an assistant professor in the history department and an associate NCC officer of the National Cadet Corps at Royal Global University, under the 30 Assam Battalion NCC, became the first person from the northeast to secure a gold medal at the event held recently at the Officer Training Academy (OTA) in Gwalior.
The annual NCC event has been held for several decades.
Sudha competed among 127 associate NCC officers from across the country and was adjudged the best firer of the academy. She also secured an ‘A’ grade in the final merit list. She was also formally commissioned with the rank of lieutenant.
“During the rigorous training programme, Dr Sudha demonstrated outstanding all-round performance by excelling in multiple activities, including drill competition, yoga instructional practice, lecture instructional practice, map reading and weapon training,” Royal Global University stated in a release.
