Guwahati: CM
Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday visited the Batadrava Cultural Project site in Nagaon district to review the final phase of construction and preparations for its formal inauguration by Union home minister Amit Shah on Dec 29.
The project, undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 217 crore, aims to transform the sacred Batadrava Than, the birthplace of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva, into a world-class spiritual destination and tourist hub.
Spread across 162 bighas of land freed from encroachment, the project is designed to preserve and showcase Srimanta Sankardeva’s religious and cultural legacy, while offering modern facilities for visitors.
During his inspection, Sarma directed officials from the district administration, public works department, and other agencies to ensure timely completion of the remaining works and smooth conduct of the inauguration programme.
