Guv VK Singh kicks off house listing & housing census operations in Aizawl
Aizawl: Mizoram governor Gen Vijay Kumar Singh formally marked the commencement of the house listing and housing census operations under the Census 2027 at the Lok Bhavan in Aizawl on Thursday.With this launch, Mizoram has joined the rest of the country in initiating the first phase of the census exercise — house listing and housing census operations.

Addressing the gathering, the governor urged all census field functionaries to discharge their duties with utmost dedication and sincerity, ensuring that no household is left behind. He stressed the importance of clearly explaining the process to individuals who may face difficulties, so that every household is properly enumerated.Describing the exercise as India’s first-ever digital census, he expressed confidence in its successful implementation and appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to enumerators and officials.The Census 2027 — India’s first digital census — will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, houselisting and housing census, began on April 1. The second phase, population enumeration, is scheduled for Feb 2027.
