Flood situation worsens in parts of Assam

Guwahati: The flood situation slightly worsened in some parts of Assam, with the number of flood-affected people in the state standing at around 50,000 on Thursday evening.

Five districts of the state — Golaghat, Cachar, Sonitpur, Nagaon, and Biswanath — are currently affected by the flood.

Rivers Dikhou, Dhansiri, Barak, and Kushiyara were flowing above danger levels at various places as of Thursday morning, according to the CWC bulletin.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority report, as of Thursday, the highest number of people affected by the flood is 32,217 in Golaghat district, followed by 13,409 in Sonitpur district and 2,888 in Nagaon district.

Around 8,000 people are in relief camps, but there are no reports of any human casualties in the past 24 hours.
