Guwahati: Office of the chief electoral officer, Assam, announced on Sunday that the commissioning of EVMs with Candidate Set for the election to the Assam legislative assembly has been completed across all 126 assembly constituencies in the state.
For the upcoming polls scheduled for April 9, a total of 41,320 ballot units, 43,975 control units, and 43,997 voter verifiable paper audit trails (VVPATs) have been commissioned. These figures also include reserve machines to be deployed, if required, across 31,490 polling stations.
The commissioning exercise was conducted between March 31 and April 4 at locations designated by the respective district election officers. “The process was conducted in the presence of contesting candidates or their authorised representatives, ensuring full transparency and adherence to prescribed guidelines,” the media release stated.
The release also stated that authorised engineers and technical staff from Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL) supported the exercise.
