Itanagar: The anti-drug squad of police in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Siang district, under its ongoing Operation Dawn 2.0 initiative, has arrested a drug peddler and recovered 9.69 grams of heroin from his possession.
Acting on inputs, a team of the anti-drug squad arrested peddler Gonong Taloh, a resident of Yagrung village in the district, East Siang SP Pankaj Lamba said on Friday.
The operation was planned by the ADS led by deputy SP and ADS in-charge Ayup Boko, in coordination with the anti-drug warriors, Pasighat, police said.
An undercover buyer was deployed to approach the peddler, leading to the capture of the accused red-handed. During search of the accused’s house, police recovered 9.69 grams of heroin, Rs 17,800 cash, six tobacco containers, three transparent vials, 23 live cartridges (12 gauge, 70mm), and a smartphone from Taloh.
The seizure of the items was conducted in compliance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, in the presence of executive magistrate Oter Gao, police said.
