GUWAHATI: Doctors in Guwahati have suggested different home remedies to fight Covid-19, which is causing anxiety and depression among people.
Dr Anupal Kumar Sarma, additional superintendent, Mohendra Mohan Choudhhury Hospital, said people can defeat the lethal virus easily just by following the Covid-19 protocols properly. “People should use face masks, santisers and maintain social distancing not only in Covid-19 situation, but in every situation.
That’s habit which can protect us from other diseases also,” he added.
He suggested a nutritious and balanced diet for a strong immunity. “Moreover, I would suggest people to remain hydrated by consuming sufficient water, especially at this time when summer has started. Staying hydrated and nutritious and balanced diet are the keys to fight against any virus,” he said.
Besides, he emphasized the need to do exercise or yoga for better blood circulation and keeping the body alert and energetic.
“This makes the cells active and boosts immunity. People must follow this,” the doctor said, while advising people to bask in the morning sun.
Doctors also have taken into account the psychological aspects while fightingthe pandemic. City based psychiatrist Dr Sangeeta Datta said, “One has to be psychologically strong to fight against the pandemic. Until and unless you are psychologically strong, you won’t be able to fight any situation.”
“We have received cases of depression disorder, anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and insomnia after the first wave of the pandemic. People were so depressed. They have not been able to recover from such a situation. These are the things we have to take into consideration along with Covid-19 protocols and physicians’ suggestions on how to stay healthy to fight the virus,” Datta added.
She asked the people not to be obsessed with television, computer or mobile phones.
“These things impact the psychology in a negative way. More we get obsessed with these electronic gadgets, more we become victim of insomnia or any other psychological disorder,” she said, suggesting people to remain engaged in hobbies like painting, singing, gardening or indoor games.
She further stressed on meditation on a regular basis to keep the mind and the thought process positive. “Most of the news on television depresses people. People often get engaged thinking what if I get infected. So, to fight such infodemic, it is very much important to do meditation in the morning and at night every day,” she added.
She suggested good food, good habits and proper daily routine at home to stay healthy with a strong immunity, especially at this time.
