GUWAHATI: Free training in the aviation and hospitality industry, funded by

Don Bosco Institute

(

DBI

)'s North East Rural Livelihood (NERLP) mission, has come as a boon for youngsters in the region. Not only has the mission helped them secure a livelihood, it has taught them to dream big.

"His teachers love him as he is hard-working and well-mannered. He took the training for three months and got a job soon after. Currently, he is working in a four-star hotel in Kerala and earning Rs 30,000 a month," said an official of the institute.

Sushma Gurung, too, has an inspiring story. Born in West Sikkim, Sushma dreamt of flying high, literally. Aspiring for a career in the aviation sector, she hit several roadblocks before DBI came to her rescue. She came down to Guwahati, joined a six-month training course and is currently working with a Mumbai-based airline. Another Sikkim youth, Birbal Rai, who was born into a poor family in

Gayzing
