Itanagar: Police have arrested an individual for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng district.
East Kameng SP Kamdam Sikom on Thursday said the arrest was made following a report at a police station on March 19. Following standard protocol, the victim underwent a medical examination, the SP said.
The accused was on the run since the registration of the case until Wednesday. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012, has been registered.
In a separate incident in nearby Tawang district, police have arrested two individuals accused of sexually assaulting and molesting a minor girl in Lumla in 2024. She was nine-year-old then, Tawang deputy SP Tasso Kato said on Thursday.
A team of Lumla Police Station tracked down the two absconding accused on Monday.
Later, the two accused were produced before a special court under the sessions court in Bomdila in West Kameng district for further legal proceedings, police said.
