AGARTALA: Barely 24 hours after students and locals ransacked a police station near Agartala and sought suspension of the officer-in-charge, CPM and Congress workers clashed in the Sachindranagar Colony, leaving at least 10 persons injured.
Sources said skirmishes had actually begun on Monday evening when opposition Congress took out a peace rally in the Sachindra Nagar Colony.

The Congress activists went wild alleging that they were attacked by supporters of the ruling party. Workers of both the parties got engaged in street fights, injuring six. The situation calmed down following intervention of locals.
On Tuesday morning, the situation turned volatile once again as hundreds of Congress supporters put up a road blockade seeking arrest of local CPM workers who had attacked the rallyists, said a witness. Soon after this, the agitating Congress workers became violent and stormed a local CPM office.
Tension was high in the area, always considered highly sensitive, following the incident.
"Senior police officers rushed to the spot with additional forces," a source said. While the blockade was withdrawn following administrative intervention, a large contingent of police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) was deployed in the area.
