Cong leader slams Modi over unfulfilled promises

Aizawl: Zodintluanga Ralte, a former state cabinet minister and national executive member of the All India Adivasi Congress Committee, criticised the BJP govt led by Narendra Modi for not delivering on its electoral commitments to Mizoram's Chakma minorities. At a public gathering in Marpara, Lunglei district on Thursday, Ralte contended that the BJP had made empty promises to the Chakma community during their election drives."During their campaign, BJP MLAs from neighbouring Tripura assured the Chakma people of direct central funding for their autonomous council. However, once elected, these promises were forgotten," Zodintluanga said.Supporting this view, Oghy Chakma, who serves as a local Congress leader from Marpara, denounced the BJP leadership for their unfulfilled commitments. "Ahead of last year's elections, several BJP leaders from Delhi made lofty claims. Tripura BJP MLA Sambhu Lal Chakma specifically promised that the Union government would provide direct funding for the Chakma Autonomous District Council. To date, nothing has materialised," he said.Ralte, who has served four terms as MLA from Thorang constituency, additionally charged the BJP govt with continuously deceiving minorities in Mizoram through false promises.
