Border guards of India, B'desh exchange sweets on Diwali

SILCHAR: Expressing goodwill and creating an atmosphere of camaraderie, the personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) exchanged greetings and sweets along the international border at Sutarkandi-Shewla land port located at the west and northwest region of Assam's Karimganj district on Diwali. Personnel from the 7th BSF Battalion under the Mizoram and Cachar Frontier presented sweets to their counterparts of the 52nd Battalion of the BGB under its Srimangal sector near pillar 1360 at the zero point of the international border, reports B B Goswami.

The exchange of greetings and sweets was not limited to the Sutarkandi-Shewla land port but similar gestures were made at the bordering points of Karimganj-Jakiganj and Latitilla-Ironbridge under the Patherkandi circle along the 92-km border with Bangladesh and Assam.

A BSF official said such courteous gestures contribute to the strengthening of the ties between the two neighbouring countries.
