BJP leaders prepare to welcome PM at party HQ
Guwahati: Assam Pradesh BJP has made all preparation to host Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will visit the party’s state headquarters on Saturday for the first time.
The party’s state media in charge Rupam Goswami said PM Modi is likely to reach the party’s headquarters around 6 pm. Prior to that, he will take part in a road show from Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport after inaugurating the newly built terminal.
Goswami said 1-1.5 lakh people are expected to gather along the 30-km stretch from the airport to the party’s headquarters at Basistha Chariali in the city.
“All the senior party workers have been invited. Other party workers will also attend the programme at the headquarters,” he added.
He added PM Modi’s visit to the party office will encourage workers ahead of the ensuing assembly elections.
Modi will be in the state for two days form Saturday. On his arrival he will unveil an 80-foot statue of Gopinath Bordoloi, before inaugurating the new airport terminal building. The PM will take part in a walkthrough at the facility and address a gathering on the occasion.
The next day he will have a “pariksha pe charcha” meet with 25 students in a vessel on the Brahmaputra river.
On Sunday, Modi will also visit the Swahid Smarak Kshetra to pay homage to the martyrs of the Assam Movement before travelling to Namrup, where he will perform Bhoomi Pujan for a ammonia-urea fertiliser plant.
