Guwahati: Jalukbari police have begun an investigation to ascertain the reasons behind city private school teacher Bhabana Sharma leaving her home on Friday. They have questioned Bhabana and her boyfriend Niharjyoti Sharma in relation to the case.
Sharma, who was found in Meghalaya on Saturday, is reported to have left home on her own.
Jalukbari OC Amrit Kumar Singh said, “We have taken Bhabana and Niharjyoti for questioning, and their phones and laptops have been seized. We are checking whether there were any communications between the two of them before she left home. We are trying to find the reasons why she fled.”
The duo was questioned on Saturday night. Niharjyoti, while speaking to the media earlier, denied any involvement in Bhabana’s sudden disappearance.
Additional DCP (West) Moitrayee Deka on Saturday said Sharma’s left home due to mental distress.
Meanwhile, Nihar’s mother said, “The police came to our home and conducted an inspection, but they did not find anything. Nihar told his father not to worry as he has done nothing wrong.”
