Bangladesh Mission in Agartala observed Language Movement Day
Agartala: The Bangladesh assistant high commission in Agartala on Saturday commemorated Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day with solemn observance and deep respect.The programme began with floral tributes at a temporary martyr column set up within the mission premises, honouring the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement who sacrificed their lives for the recognition of Bengali alongside Urdu as an official language.

Throughout the day, the national flag of Bangladesh was flown at half-mast as a mark of respect. The observance highlighted the courage of those who laid down their lives to secure recognition for the Bengali language.A cultural programme was also organised, celebrating the rich heritage and significance of the Bengali language while underscoring the importance of International Mother Language Day.Assistant high commissioner Hasan Al Basar Abul Ulai, along with officials and staff of the mission, participated in the event, paying tribute to the martyrs and reaffirming the enduring legacy of the Language Movement.
