Silchar: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said construction of a long-pending flyover in Silchar could begin as early as Jan 2026, once the district administration submits a public opinion report
.
Speaking to reporters Sarma said the state govt is “fully ready” to move ahead. “The tender has been floated, the contractor is ready and funds have also been arranged. We are only waiting for a report from the district commissioner of Cachar after assessing public opinion,” Sarma said.
He added that he has asked DC Mridul Kumar Yadav to take feedback from all sections before submitting the final report. Hinting at resistance from a section of businessmen and residents, the CM said the govt would hold discussions with those opposing the plan.
