Guwahati: Former finance secretary of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Jayanta Khaund, an aspirant for a ticket from the Ranganadi constituency in Lakhimpur district, joined Congress in New Delhi on Monday.
Khaund quit AGP in protest after BJP reportedly refused to concede the Ranganadi seat to its ally, AGP.
He joined Congress in the presence of APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, AICC general secretary Jitendra Singh, Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivakumar, AICC secretary Manoj Chauhan, and senior leaders Satyabrata Kalita and Binanda Saikia.
