police have arrested a 23-year-old man, identified as Farid Khan, for disrepecting Indian Tricolour in a
Facebook post. Barara deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sudhir Taneja said that Khan, a resident district Shamli in
Uttar Pradesh, had imposed Pakistani flag over the Indian flag and made disrespectful remarks in his social media post.
DSP Taneja said, “The arrested accused used to run a juice corner at Nohni village in the
Ambala district
from the past six months.”
Local resident Rahul Kohli gave police a complaint. “The accused is his friend on Facebook and he had uploaded a post in which
Pakistan national flag was used over Indian flag and disrespectful remarks were put on the Indian flag. After noticing the post I have given a complaint to the police. The accused runs a juice corner near my electronics shop in village Nohni,” he said.
“The accused was arrested from Mullana and he has been booked under section 2 (g) of the the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. He would be presented before the court on Monday for further interrogation in this regard,” added the DSP.
