GURGAON: A theft suspect was apprehended by a hotel caretaker and his associate near the city bus stand, sustaining multiple injuries while attempting to flee after being identified from CCTV footage, police said. He was caught six days after the alleged theft.The accused, Amit, was admitted to Civil Hospital, Sector 10, with multiple injuries, including bruises, abrasions and lacerations on his back, arms, thighs and legs.According to a complaint by Mukesh, caretaker at Maan Hotel in Saraswati Complex, Rajiv Nagar (Sector 12), the theft took place between the night of March 13 and the morning of March 14. Mukesh alleged that his Samsung tablet went missing from a room, while his associate Kapil’s mobile phone was also stolen. CCTV footage showed an unidentified person leaving the premises in haste.On the night of March 20, Mukesh and Kapil spotted a man near the bus stand whom they identified from the footage. When confronted, he tried to escape. During the chase, he hit a wall in an underpass and jumped onto the road, sustaining injuries before being caught.Police reached the spot after being alerted about an injured suspect being detained by locals and shifted him to the civil hospital. A medical examination recorded multiple injuries, and he was kept under securityBased on the complaint, a case has been registered under Sections 305 (theft in a dwelling house) and 331(4) (lurking house-trespass) of BNS.
