7 dead as ambulance carrying patient collides with truck in Assam
NEW DELHI: At least seven people died and two others were injured after an ambulance collided with a truck in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Sunday night, police said.The ambulance, which was carrying a patient along with family members, was travelling to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital when the accident occurred on National Highway 15 under the Dhekiajuli police station area.The two critically injured have been shifted to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital.
"Seven people died on the spot, and the two critically injured have been shifted to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital," said Sonitpur Senior Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayasta.Police and emergency teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident, carried out rescue operations and later cleared the highway, the officer added.
