Teen’s molestation: Cops say hospital yet to share footage

GURGAON: The police officers, who are probing the alleged molestation of a 16-year-old girl by two male nurses, claimed they had not received the CCTV footage, which could be a crucial evidence in the case, from the hospital authorities so far.

The two male nurses of a private hospital — aged 27 and 23 — were arrested on Monday after the mother of the teen treated in the hospital’s intensive care told police they had sexually assaulted her.

According to police, the CCTV footage would have been overwritten because the hospital’s digital video recorder (DVR) has a capacity to store the video clips only for three days. This, they said, raises serious concerns about the security arrangements made by the hospital authorities. The alleged molestation happened on November 16, according to the complaint filed the girl’s mother.

“The hospital has not shared the CCTV footage with us,” said inspector

Bhartendra

, SHO of Sector 14 police station.

The hospital administration, when contacted, said the two male nurses were hired directly by the hospital on the basis of their qualifications. “They are qualified nurses and don’t have any similar record in the past,” said Pramod Pathak, public relations officer of the hospital.

One of the nurses accused,

Kuldeep

, who is from Sohna, has been working in the hospital for one and a half years, while the other, Ravinder, has been working there for more than two years. “There have never been any complaints against them, and they have a good track record,” he said.

Deputy commissioner

Vinay Pratap Singh

said matter would be examined by the health department apart from police investigation. “The matter has been discussed with the civil surgeon. The n ext course of action will be decided soon,” he said.
