An MCG official said the places, most of which were slum areas, were directing untreated
The corporation is soon going to file a police complaint against the offenders. “The corporation has prepared a list of illegal sewage connections as per the NGT directions. MCG carried out a day-long operation to spot violations. FIRs will soon be filed against offenders,” an MCG official said.
The NGT, in July this year, instructed Haryana to restrict all illegal outflow into Badshahpur drain, which flows to Najafgarh drain that ultimately flows down to the Yamuna. So far, the major for the authorities has been able to keep a check over inflow of untreated waste and sewage in the Najafgarh basin which causes severe water pollution in the nallah and then the Yamuna.
While Badshahpur drain originates in the city, Najafgarh Drain was once a part of Sahibi river, which originates in the Aravali hills in the Alwar-Rewari region of Rajasthan and Haryana. The drain traverses a length of 41km before falling into the river Yamuna in the northern part of Delhi.
