Sewage leak into water riles DLF New Town residents

GURUGRAM:

Residents

of DLF New Town Heights in Sector 90 say they have been getting contaminated

water

supply for years and leakage from a

sewage

treatment plant might be the reason.

“I came to live here four years ago,” said Ashok Malik, a resident. “We have been receiving

foul

water since then. We suspect the STP is working past its capacity as there is a large number of houses here.”

The problem persists in all towers from A to L, except tower I. “After every fortnight or so, we start getting foul water. We don’t know what the problem is,” said Vivek Tewari, another resident. DLF, the builder, is in charge of water supply to the township.

Residents told TOI that water harvesting units too were becoming a nuisance. “During heavy rain, water accumulates in these units, but there isn’t any mechanism for using it. Recently, the water seeped to the basement and damaged electric equipment,” another resident said. DLF couldn’t be reached for a comment.
